Post-Quantum Cryptography Transition: ANSSI and Its G7 Partners Rally Public and Private Sectors with Urgent Call to Action

Under France’s 2026 G7 Presidency (PFG7), France's Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI) has taken the lead in the G7 Cybersecurity Working Group, bringing together cybersecurity agencies and centres from G7 member states, along with the European Commission and ENISA as guest participants.

Building on the momentum of Canada’s 2025 G7 Presidency, ANSSI has expanded and deepened discussions on the transition to post-quantum cryptography. In 2025, the “ (Opens a new window) G7 Cybersecurity Working Group Statement on Preparing for a Post-Quantum Cryptography Migration”, negotiated under Canada’s leadership, laid the groundwork for a coordinated G7 approach. The statement provided practical recommendations to guide organizations – particularly technical leadership – in planning and implementing the shift to quantum-resistant algorithms.

Building on this technical foundation, the G7 Cybersecurity Working Group, led by ANSSI, is now issuing an urgent call to action for public and private decision-makers to recognize and address the imminent quantum threat.

Our message is clear: the transition to post-quantum cryptography is a critical security issue that calls for a collective and coordinated effort. Organizations – whether public or private – must act now to prepare for this shift.
