What we do
The French Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI) is the national authority for cybersecurity and cyberdefence in France. ANSSI’s purpose is to develop and coordinate, across government departments, the nation’s protection against cyberattacks, and to contribute to the stability of cyberspace.
Its work forms part of the State’s sovereign responsibilities, serving the overarching public policy objective of security and resilience for government departments, the economy and society as a whole.
Its work is divided into five main areas of responsibility: defending, knowing, sharing, supporting and regulating.
ANSSI defends
the nation’s critical information systems, by designing and deploying cyberattack detection capabilities, and by guaranteeing the availability of trusted security tools capable of protecting the most sensitive data and of facing the greatest threats;
victims of major cyberattacks and the Nation, by establishing a national framework for the assistance of victims;
an autonomous vision of cyberspace security and stability, at the international level.
ANSSI knows
the state of the art in technology and information system security;
the threats and risks inherent to cyberspace, and develops methods and tools to deal with them;
the major trends in the world of cybersecurity, in France, Europe and internationally, to fully embrace them while defending a singular vision of the security and stability of cyberspace.
ANSSI shares
cybersecurity recommendations, solutions, and tools with actors involved in cybersecurity and digital transformation;
knowledge and know-how pertaining to the cyberthreat, along with potential responses, with French, European, and international technical, operational, or strategic partners;
its expertise broadly, to raise collective security in the face of cyberthreats.
ANSSI supports
cybersecurity recommendations, solutions, and tools with actors involved in cybersecurity and digital transformation;
knowledge and know-how pertaining to the cyberthreat, along with potential responses, with French, European, and international technical, operational, or strategic partners;
its expertise broadly, to raise collective security in the face of cyberthreats.
ANSSI regulates
the quality of cybersecurity products and services, via qualification and certification schemes;
the quality of products comprising digital components, by advocating for security by design and by default;
through the conception of standard-setting and regulatory frameworks, at the national, European, and international level;
by ensuring their proper implementation.
