A decisive week for the digital security in the EU

The Estonian presidency of the European Union will be hosting on September 14-15 a conference on the current cyber threat landscape and ways for safeguarding the digital single market.

Guillaume Poupard, Director General of National Cybersecurity Agency of France, will join his German counterpart, Arne Schönbohm, President of the German Federal Office for Information Security, to discuss cyber threats & response. Several high-level personalities will also be present, such as Kersti Kaljulaid, President of the Republic of Estonia, and Julian King, European Commissioner for the Security Union.

The European Commission will publish shortly before the conference a “cyber package” :

  • The revision of the European cybersecurity strategy;
  • The revision of the ENISA’s mandate;
  • The proposal for a European security certification framework;
  • A communication and a recommendation for a European crisis management response (“blueprint”);
  • A communication on the implementation of the NIS directive, adopted in July 2016.
