ANSSI - A driving force of the European Public Private Partnership on cybersecurity
On 5 July 2016, ECSO and the European Commission signed the contract launching the public private partnership, with a budget of € 450 million from the EU research and Innovation program H2020.
ANSSI was elected for 3 years at the Board of Directors of ECSO (European CyberSecurity Organisation), the European association created in June 2016 as part of the launch of the Public Private Partnership for European cybersecurity (cPPP).
The General Director of ANSSI Guillaume POUPARD welcomed the creation of this association, which brings together all public and private stakeholders involved in the European cybersecurity industry at European level.
According to Guillaume Poupard, the cPPP will "contribute to strengthen Europe's strategic autonomy in the digital security industry," set as its 5th objective in the French National digital security Strategy on the European digital strategic autonomy.
The official ceremony was held at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, with the Vice President of the European Commission for the Digital Single Market, Andrus ANSIP, and the Commissioner for the digital economy and society, Günther OETTINGER. It was attended by several high level representatives from ECSO members, including ANSSI General Director Guillaume Poupard.
ANSSI’s vision for the cPPP
As stated by France in its answer to the public consultation of the European Commission, this cPPP should have a board approach to cybersecurity: the digital security. In addition to its core missions in the prioritization of R&I, the cPPP will help identifying the key challenges of digital security industry policy, such as IT security certification.
